ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR PROGRAM

“The Environmental Education Center” core educational program consists of five courses:

COURSE I – GREEN ACTIVIST

COURSE II – COMMUNITY WARRIOR

COURSE III – EARTH WARRIOR

COURSE IV – ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINER

COURSE V – ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT

The Environmental Educator Program is a series of courses designed to help individuals gain knowledge and the tools necessary to effectively teach others about their environmental footprint and how to begin to think and live Green.

The Environmental Educator Program consists of a series of five courses designed to provide the individual with the information necessary to become an “Environmental Instructor” and provide workshops and instructional components for educating and enlightening individuals to save the Earth.

The first 3 courses are part of the Earth Awareness Program, exclusive to The Environmental Education Center and the Environmental Educator Program.

Completion of Courses I, II, III are necessary to participate in the “Environmental Instructor” Program for the Environmental Education Center and it is by invitation only. An individual may seek admission by contacting a Director or Manager upon successfully completing the necessary components.

Each individual must annually re-establish their credentials to remain a certified “Environmental Trainer” or “Environmental Consultant” for The Environmental Education Center.

A limited number of scholarships are available for qualified individuals.

In these courses, the individual learner will learn:

· How to work locally to impact regionally and nationally the Green Movement

· How to build local coalitions to help communities become Green

· How to engage students locally to impact regionally

· How to assist educational professionals in schools, youth groups, church groups, etc. to develop classroom and outdoor projects

· Where to locate and how to properly use local resources and reference guides

· How to bring the full power of local and regional networks and associations to accelerate progress

Non-member’s on-line cost for all three classes: $1,710

Total regular cost for all five classes: $2,760 USD

Members may save an additional 25% off the price of accommodations by booking lodging at facilities recommended by The Environmental Education Center. So if you are traveling be sure to ask us for hotels that have agreed to provide special rates. Prices per night range from $65 double occupancy to $225 for a king suite per night.

All participants receive a complimentary Continental Breakfast and water or coffee throughout the classes.

A lunch menu will be offered at a discounted price and dinner is the responsibility of each participant.

NOTE: Any member who wishes to take all three courses during a Summer or Winter Semester will receive an additional $255 off the cost of the classes and an additional 15% off all lodging costs. This is a great way for teachers and professional educators to get the annual CEU credits.

COURSE I – GREEN ACTIVIST

Course I is designed to provide the individual the tools necessary to become an active participant within the “Green Community”. Here the individual learns the about the changes brought about in the environment as a result of humankinds’ interaction with the world around them. The course material is designed to be used within the Secondary Science classroom to partially meet the needs of the Physical Science, Environmental Science, and Biology classes.

COURSE II – COMMUNITY WARRIOR

Course II is designed to provide the individual with the tools necessary to work actively within the community to bring about change locally and beyond as an integral part of the Green Activist Community. The individual will learn about incorporating change at the local level and activating change beyond the confines of his/her locals. Local activists will bring their voices to the classes providing hands-on experience and working to hone the skills needed to address local needs. The course material is designed to be used within the Secondary Science classroom to partially meet the needs of the Physical Science, Environmental Science, and Biology classes.

COURSE III – EARTH WARRIOR

Course III is designed to bring the individual closer to being an integral part of the Green Community on a regional/State scale. The individual will learn the techniques necessary to work with leaders in their areas to bring about real change in the use of natural resources in a positive manner. Real life experiences will be discussed and acted upon with acclaimed speakers teaching parts of the three day seminar. The course material is designed to be used within the Secondary Science classroom to partially meet the needs of the Physical Science, Environmental Science, and Biology classes.

COURSE IV – ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINER

Course IV is offered only by invitation from a Regional Manager or with the approval of a National Director or by a National Director only and courses are only offered once a quarter. The coursework is designed to assist the individual to teach any one of the three courses, Green Activist, Community Warrior, Earth Warrior and assist in teaching the IV course under the direct supervision of an “Environmental Trainer”. Leading edge instructional and educational methodologies will be taught as an integral part of the coursework.

COURSE V – ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTANT

Course V is only offered to those exceptional individuals who have assisted as an Environmental Instructor for a period not less than 90 days, has assisted with a minimum of five classes for Courses I, II, and/or III, one of which must be a Course III and has successfully passed a final Environmental Consultant Review with a Trainer from The Environmental Education Center. Acceptance to the “Environmental Consultant” is based on the following criteria: the recommendation of a National Director, a success score of 85% or higher on all material examinations taken for Courses I through IV, and by meeting the teaching criteria. The reason for such a high standard/expectation is the independent nature of the “Environmental Instructor”. Each “Environmental Consultant” must take a one day seminar bi-annually to maintain their levels of readiness and each three years take a three day refresher course.
